PATTERNS

Urethane Pattern

A leading manufacturer of computer memory required plastic shipping trays for its valuable microchips. PROTOGENESIS used CAD/CAM and CNC machining to make a filled urethane foundry pattern of their shipping tray design. The identical aluminum casting made from this pattern is now used by Specialty Manufacturing as a tool for vacuum forming the crucial shipping trays.

What is a Pattern?
Foundry patterns are used to shape the mold for casting of metals. A pattern consists of a full-sized replica of the desired metal part. Patterns are commonly made out of wood or reinforced thermoset plastics.
