Heat Seal Fixture

This is an anodized aluminum heat seal fixture manufactured by PROTOGENESIS. It conforms to the exact dimensions of plastic packaging trays used by Biopsys Medical. The fixture locates and supports the medical-equipment-filled trays while they are sealed closed with heat and pressure.

What is a Fixture?
During production it is sometimes necessary to hold and position a workpiece while performing precise operations like drilling or inspection. This is where jigs and fixtures come into play. These workholding devices often must conform to the shapes of the parts they position.

These are aluminum fixtures made by PROTOGENESIS for Randall International. The fixtures are used to fill "Lip-Balm" tubes. The plastic tubes fit tightly inside the upper part of the fixture and the hot wax is poured into the tubes. When cooled the excess wax is then scraped off the top and the tubes are removed. The fixtures have been clear anodized for durability.
